Sartor Inducted as a National Patron of Delta Omicron
July 17, 2009 - David Sartor has been named as the newest National Patron of Delta Omicron, based on his accomplishments as a composer and conductor.
Delta Omicron is a co-educational international professional music honors fraternity founded to create and foster fellowship,
to develop character and to arouse and encourage the appreciation of good music and performance. The title of "Patron" is conferred by the organization upon a distinguished musician who has attained a national reputation in his or her field. With his induction, Sartor joins an elite
roster of current and past composers, conductors, performers and educators which includes Samuel Barber, Beverly Sills, William Bolcom, Kenneth Schermerhorn, and Lucas Foss.
Sartor was also the recipient of the Delta Omicron Foundation's Thor Johnson Memorial Commission, awarded to every three years to an eminent concert music composer. The commission funds the creation
of a new work to be featured at the organization’s Triennial Conference. Sartor's induction as a National Patron was presided over by Dr. Jonny Ramsey, Delta Omicron International President, and took place at the Delta Omicron Triennial Conference in Cincinnati following
the premiere of his Passages for String Quartet by the Atlantis String Quartet.
