Program Notes

Meditation is a short audience-friendly work for cello and piano, and is useful for worship services, weddings, or as a recital piece. In Adagio elegante tempo, it features the full range of the cello in an expressive ornamented style. A short coda brings the piece to a quiet and elegant conclusion.

The piece was premiered by Nashville Symphony Associate Principal Cellist Julia Tanner and Pianist Sarah Huffman on May 22, 2011 at Woodmont Christian Church in Nashville, Tennessee.
